Improving quality in potatoes
Crop intelligence improves logistics control significantly and achieve positive return on investment.
The problem
There were several indicators relating to plant uniformity that the grower wanted to glean from deploying remote drone missions and having the agronomist visit the field at different stages of crop growth.
The solution
The mission was to measure crop uniformity. Orthomosaic or “bird's eye view” at every phase of the growing season is important in predicting the health and success of the crop. Using drones to analyze the state of the crops brings a return on investment by providing information quickly that was not previously available. The orthomosaic feature tells the story of what is happening in the field including if there are any irrigation issues (among many other issues) that need quick solutions.
The outcome
From analyzing the orthophotos, the agronomist identified several stressed areas in the crop. They determined that the sprinkler irrigation system did not have a consistent overlap in those areas. There are two possible reasons for this bad overlap - first and more common is that the pressure is not right - adjust the pressure, and the problem is solved. The second reason could be the irrigation system may have an overall bad design (less common). The AgroScout platform helped detect these problems early.

Remote sensing to save on nutrient management.
By managing crop growth with AgroScout and by on time irrigating to avoid drought stress, proper fertilization, and reducing pest pressure had helped reduced further the incidence of disease outbreaks.
